As the saying goes, “practice makes perfect.” It applies to everything we do in life. Take for example the learning of a language. With practice, we can read, write, listen and speak English.

俗語(yǔ)說(shuō)熟能生巧。這話(huà)適用于我們生活中所做的一切。比如學(xué)習(xí)語(yǔ)言，通過(guò)練習(xí)英語(yǔ)，我們學(xué)會(huì)讀、寫(xiě)、聽(tīng)、說(shuō)。
It is no easy thing to learn a Ianguage. First. I have to overcome the difficulties in pronunciation. I try hard to get every sound right, keep on doing the drills and memorize the new words. Then there are those grammar rules to remember and put to use. Also, to write I have to lead extensively and practise writing by keeping a diary or something.

學(xué)習(xí)語(yǔ)言決非易事，首先得克服發(fā)音上的困難。我努力發(fā)準(zhǔn)每一個(gè)音，堅(jiān)持練習(xí)記單詞，記語(yǔ)法規(guī)則和運(yùn)用語(yǔ)法。要學(xué)會(huì)寫(xiě)，我得博覽群書(shū)、記日記或練習(xí)寫(xiě)作。
Those who praetise most learn fast. In my class, some of the American students seize time in practising the little Chinese they have learned. For example, when the class is noisy someone will shout, “安靜(Be quiet)!” When the lecture is too long, someone will say, “夠了(enough)” or asks the teacher in phony concern, “你不累嗎? (Aren’t you tired?)” It is funny and they make surprisingly good progress in speaking Chinese.

練得多學(xué)得快。在我們班一些美國(guó)學(xué)生抓緊時(shí)間練習(xí)已學(xué)得的一點(diǎn)漢語(yǔ)。比如，上課吵鬧時(shí)，便有人喊：“安靜！”上課時(shí)間太長(zhǎng)時(shí)，便有人叫：“夠了！”或假惺惺地問(wèn)老師：“你不累嗎?”有趣的是，他們的漢話(huà)口語(yǔ)進(jìn)步得很快。
Practice makes perfect. There is no truer word than that. When there is anything you cannot do, do net he afraid. Just try, try and try again, for practice makes perfect, but remember that we should practise what we preach.
“熟能生巧”，話(huà)再對(duì)不過(guò)了。不要怕不會(huì)做，只要堅(jiān)持練習(xí)，練習(xí)，再練習(xí)，便能熟能生巧，但要記住，一定要說(shuō)到做到。
